New books and Scoop.it back up and available

Scoop.it (the webpage collation site), is once again available through the school network. There was a small hiccup last week but all systems are go – so our Year 12’s should be madly making use of the resources we have got available on it.

It is the term for new books and we have had another big delivery after Mrs Healey’s wild spending spree. There are books on war, Escher, graphic novels and movie tie-ins.

For those keen on the military life.

A really wonderful book that covers his early to late work. It contains a number of large fold out pages so that the reader can really appreciate his art.

An interesting range of different graphic novel styles and stories.

When too much greed is not really enough… In our Senior Collection.

From the cover: “in a world with no trees, no air, not truth… there is no choice but to fight back”

Phew!!! When is there time for school work when there are so many books to read??!

Library Puzzle Challenge

We have the Mona Lisa missing part of her image in the library. For those puzzle lovers (of which I admit, I am not), please come in and help give Mona something to smile about!

New books – Mrs Healey has been busy!

Mrs Healey has been very busy ordering a large batch of new books to start the year. Here are just a few of them:

For all of those WOW lovers in the school (in the month of reading love this seems so appropriate)

After run-ins with the law Joe is sent off to reform school. Life is tough there for a boy from the city but Joe discovers his inner strength.

The first books in this exciting new time travel book are now on our shelves.

Otto Malpense is a pupil at H.I.V.E., the top secret school of villainy.

One for our senior collection – a husband finds himself accused of the mysterious disappearance of his wife.

Darren Shan the master of horror has delivered a series about Zombies – the current monster de jour.

 Deltora Quest manga style!

We have the first three books in this very addictive series.

A great new mystery series that is part graphic novel and part novel. Can you solve the mystery before the characters do?

This has international aclaim and is about two eccentric boys who decide to take a road trip across Germany.

There are many more new books – too many for me to add here (it is Friday afternoon afterall and I do want to go home!).

Library Lovers Unite!

This is your chance to show how much you love your libraries! Come in and see our romantic library vision (thanks to Mrs Healey’s amazing craft supplies).

Nominate your favourite library!

The Australian Library and Information Association is looking for Australia’s favourite library. This competition will launch on the 10th of February  and you can show your love (for Obost Secondary College of course) at #librarylove.

Welcome back

To all of last year’s students and to the new Year 7 students. Hopefully plenty of interesting reading material has been consumed over the Christmas Holidays – the non-fattening version of Christmas!

A new radio station is coming

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for the first broadcast of OSC’s radio station – coming soon to the caf. If you have any song requests make sure you drop them into the library.
